You are invited to an impromptu show of work by six Members of
studio1.1 London.
Running counter to normal curatorial decisions (although studio1.1 has
never slavishly followed convention) we sent out a call to artists in
our membership. In effect a handover of the gallery to the artists
themselves. The idea behind it was pragmatism - exploiting an
opportunity - the criterion above all availability. Six artists from
our membership replied with commendable alacrity. Six artists whose
work has been artificially joined together in this most artificial of
seasons. There will be connections, the theme (if any) will evolve
over What's App although one of the artists has already discerned a
Beckettian connection between them (how tinselly does that sound?).
Putting the 'X' in Xmas. In the spirit of the season 'You better watch
out... ' a ransom note, signed Santa.
